 The Theme is: Any Aspect of Gold at the Museum. Pans can be purchased at the Museum Café and the Gympie Gallery for $10 each as entry to the competition. Pans to be painted in oil or acrylic and delivered to the Museum Café by October 1st at 12 Noon.  $100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd. Painted pans will go on display at the Museum and some pans will be auctioned after the gold panning championships at the Gympie Gold Mining Museum on October 10.

Gympie & District Prostate Cancer Support Group presents - Turn the Rattler Blue. Enjoy a great day out, kicking off from Old Gympie Railway Station you will ride the Mary Valley Rattler to Amamoor. Here you will be greeted by a BBQ lunch and live entertainment, followed by wine & cheese tasting at Dagun on return trip home. All proceeds will be donated to Prostate Cancer Research. Tickets are $25 per adult and $12.50 for children under 14.

The Gympie Regional Gallery will hold a community art exhibition by artists with disabilities in the Gympie Region to celebrate Disabiltiy Action Week.   The exhibition titled 'Together we can in 2010' will be displayed in Gallery 3 from from September  7 to October 2.   More than 120 community events are registered on the Disability Action Week website   www.disability.qld.gov.au/actionweek

Join us for this great day of historical re-enactment in conjunction with your Rattler journey on the third Sunday of each month.  Seargeant Moore and Trooper Knox have been commissioned to escort a large shipment of gold from the Gympie Goldfields to Imbil.  Watch out for bushrangers along the way... especially at the stations.  A serious attempt will most likely take place when we reach Imbil, we therefore ask you to alight from the train as quickly as possible.
