Banyanda Alpaca Feeding & Wool Shop

Get up close and personal with these friendly creatures on Gympie’s Southside. Hand feed alpacas; purchase fine fleece products at the farm shop; or acquire Suri and Huacaya alpacas for breeding. Travellers can work on the farm in exchange for board (WWOOFer).

Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum

Set by Gympies picturesque Lake Alford, the
Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum houses memorabilia from the early gold mining era, as well as displays showcasing military, rural, transport, communications and steam development in Australia. OPENING HOURS: 7 days a week, 9am to 4pm.

Gold fossiking in Deep Creek

In 1867 a discovery of alluvial gold in a gully near the Mary River began the first major gold rush in Queensland. Try your luck panning for gold at the Deep Creek Fossicking Area in Gympie. Gympie Gliding Club

The Gympie Gliding Club is located at the
Gympie Air Strip at Kybong
about 10 kilometres south of Gympie on the Bruce Highway.
Gympie’s airspace is the closest airfield north of Brisbane that offers no height restrictions & provides a winch to lift the gliders into the air.

Gunabul Golf Course

Gunabul’s Par 3 layout makes exciting use of the undulating landscape and natural watercourses. Located beside the Mary River with beautiful views of the city, this picturesque and challenging 18 hole golf course is a great place for either a social or professional game.

Mothar Mountain Rock Pools

Subtropical rainforest & spectacular rocky creeks make the Mothar Mountain rock pools a popular retreat for locals and visitors. Relax and unwind to the sound of water gently cascading over ancient granite outcrops. Stroll along a short walk through tranquil rainforest.Facilities include picnic tables, barbecues, firewood, water and amenities.
15 mins south-east of Gympie, take the Old Noosa Rd then turn left into Hill Rd.

Public swimming pools

Open September to April, Gympie Memorial Swimming Pool features a heated learning facility and shaded wading pool. Tin Can Bay public pool is heated with an extended swimming season.
Public pools are also open in Kandanga, Kilkivan and Goomeri.
